Dana L. Myers, MD

Executive Profile

Dr. Dana Myers is Co-Founder and COO of Velocity Bioscience. She also serves as a Medical Consultant for the health law firm Spiers Group and lends her expertise as a business advisor to innovative biotech start-ups at the Texas Medical Center as well as medical focused investment group angelMD.

Dr. Myers received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed her general surgery residency at the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Following completion of her training, she was invited to remain on faculty as an Associate Clinical Professor. Over the course of her surgical career, Dr. Myer's practice evolved from general and trauma surgery to one more focused on laparoscopic, endocrine, and breast cancer surgery, which she practiced throughout the Texas Medical Center and surrounding hospitals. She went on to join a large multi-specialty group in the Texas Medical Center as Medical Director of the Breast Center, developing and expanding the facility to provide services to over 400,000 patients.

Dr. Myers went on to establish D.L. Myers MD and Associates, a surgical practice specializing in diseases of the breast and breast cancer. She continued to consult on the design and development of breast and surgical centers, as well as working on health policy issues at all levels of government. Eventually transitioning more fully into the business side of healthcare, she served as the Medical Director for the Jeri Foundation, a non-profit organization serving cancer patients. Concurrently, she joined California-based luxury knitwear brand Zola Hats as COO, expanding the product line to high-end retail stores in the United States, Europe, and Japan.

In addition to her current business endeavors, Dr. Myers is actively involved in advising non-profits, including HealthCorps, where she has helped develop and expand its Texas Two-Step: Save A Life Campaign, a national program that offers free hands-only CPR training. Dr. Myers serves on the Houston Methodist Hospital’s Surgical Innovations Task Force in the Department of Surgery. She was on the Board of Directors for Kids' Meals Houston and is an Assistant Scoutmaster for a Boy Scouts of America Troop in Houston.

Dr. Myers is married to Jon Spiers MD JD and resides in Houston, Texas.
